Overview

Technology Is the Omnipotent God is an interactive installation exploring how technological systems can take on spiritual and ritual functions. Inspired by online subliminal-music communities, the project imagines a meditation space where suggestion, data and interaction merge into a form of contemporary techno-mysticism.

Research — Inspiration: Technology, Belief and Subconscious Control

The project began with an interest in the unstable boundary between technology, belief and magic. Research into subliminal influence led me to Cold War-era experiments, commercial myths and later scientific studies around subconscious perception, showing how technologies of influence repeatedly move between scientific research, speculation and popular belief.

Historical timeline of subliminal influence, from Cold War research to contemporary online communities.

This led me to contemporary online subliminal-music communities, where sound, affirmation and digital media are treated as tools for changing the self and fulfilling desires.

Contemporary Case — Subliminal Music Communities

I began with online communities centred on subliminal music, where users believe repeated sound, image and affirmation can influence the subconscious and help manifest desired outcomes.

Testing Ritual and Suggestion

I compared practices such as meditation, hypnosis and concentration training, then ran a small workshop to test how participants responded to self-directed rituals and suggestion.
